Canadian Diaries Screening

Our film was shown in Calgary on August 25th as part of a Shorts Program. Here's a blurb from the website:
"The project will showcase independent Canadian documentaries, and explore the historical and contemporary traditions of the genre as an intrinsic part of Canadian culture. The feature film we have selected as a seminal work, Pour la Suite du Monde, is a film that has a uncontested place in Canadian film history, and the shorts programs will contain contemporary documentary films (with a focus on works that utilize the film medium - 8mm, Super 8mm, 16mm, 35mm etc). They will deal with Canadian identity, explore landscape and culture, and the creation of self through them."

Thanks to the CSIF for including our film among such illustrious and respectable filmmakers. Alanis Obomsawin had a film in the same program as ours, and that is an honour indeed.

We have been finished submitting this film to the festival circuit for about 6-8 months now. If there is any new information, we will be sure to add it.

Our future projects...
Nick is working on a feature film about a midwife in a Hutterite community in rural Saskatchewan.
Lindsay is writing a collection of sci-fi poetry, written from the inevitable point in the future when humanity and technology evolve and envelop each other.

A Review from our Screening in Toronto
Our Canadian Shorts Program listed as a "Pick of the Festival"

Toronto Screening!

It's the end of our second day here in Toronto. The city is really neat, most of the buildings are made out of brick, beautiful! Nick attended the opening screening last night, and learned about the politics of water. Don't buy bottled water!!!! Our film screened tonight as part of a Canadian shorts program, along with some other great films. We did our first audience Q&A afterwards too, where people wanted to know more about Dad and the process of trapping. We're really enjoying being here and the festival so far. We're looking forward to checking out more interesting films and taking in more great sights, foods and company.

We're leaving late Tuesday night to head out to Toronto for the Planet in Focus festival. The whole family is going, including our daughters Ezra (nineteen months old) and Anya (four months old). It will be our first time in Toronto, so we're looking forward to exploring, eating and watching some great nature films. We'll update the blog when we're there.

We're being screened at the Planet in Focus Environmental Film Festival, in a Canadian Shorts program. We're really excited that we're going to be able to go to Toronto for the festival. We have a lot of wonderful supportive people to thank for getting us there.

Director's Biography

Lindsay and Nick Bradford-Ewart are a married filmmaking team currently residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. They went through film school together at Simon Fraser University, during which time their family grew to include their daughters, Ezra and Anya, and a dog named Kierkegaard. Nick is also a professional photographer and Lindsay is trained in creative writing. Lindsay's roots are in rural Saskatchewan while Nick was raised in suburban Coquitlam.
